Technical Career Paths

Certification can be the quickest path to a bigger paycheck!

A+ Certification

Would you like to be a part of a nationally-recognized certification as a computer service professional? A+ Certification may be for you!!

A+ Certification is a CompTIA sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technicians.  The A+ test contains situational, traditional, and identification types of questions.  All of the questions are multiple choice with only one correct answer for each question.  The test covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but is not bound to any vendor-specific products.

The program is backed by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers, and publications.  A+ certification signifies that the certified individual possesses the knowledge and skills essential for a successful entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technician, as defined by experts from companies across the industry.

For A+ Certification, the examinee must pass both the Core Hardware Service examination and the A+ Operating System Technologies examination.  The Core Hardware examination measures essential competencies for a microcomputer hardware service technician with six months of on-the-job experience.  The examinee must demonstrate basic knowledge of installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer systems at the standard defined by this test specification.

The Operating System Technologies examination measures essential operating system competencies for a microcomputer hardware service technician with six months of on-the-job experience.  The examinee must demonstrate basic knowledge of Command Line Prompt, Windows 9x and Windows 2000 for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer systems.

Important!

Entrance into the A+ Test Prep course is based on successful results of a TSAT™ assessment and recommendation of a technical advisor.  If you took the TSAT™ and the advisor recommended that you take the A+ Foundation courses prior to the A+ Test Prep course, you must successfully reassess on the A+ portions of the TSAT™. Online reassessment is now available. Call your Alliance Co-Chairs, Michele Kucinski at 407-475-8045 or Allison Mercado at 407-475-8088 for more information.

Participants entering a Test Preparation program MUST successfully pass the certification exam associated with that program before registering for another Test Preparation program.
